Who requires this qualification?
Any business licensed to sell alcohol, including small pubs, retailers, large nightclubs, cafés, restaurants, hotels and sports facilities, is required by law to have at least one personal licence holder. To become a personal licence holder, an individual should obtain a regulated personal licence holders qualification. A personal licence allows the holder to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol. A personal licence is also needed to apply to become a designated premises supervisor (DPS). Licensed premises can have more than one personal licence holder.

Entry requirements
To register onto this qualification, learners are required to meet the following entry requirements:
Age Ranges This qualification is approved for delivery to learners aged 16 or above.
However, a Personal Licence cannot be applied for until the age of 18. Language
It is advised that learners have a minimum of Level 1 in Literacy or numeracy or equivalent
Guidance on assessment
This qualification is assessed by a Multiple-Choice Question (MCQ) examination. The examination for this qualification contains 40 questions that must be completed within one hour.
Successful learners will have to demonstrate knowledge and understanding across the qualification syllabus and achieve a minimum pass mark of 70%.
Course duration
Study is completed via our e-learning portal and the exam is sat at our training center in Ipswich, The Examination last an hour, and registration around 30 minutes.
The Full Process
Candidate completes the APLH online course If a pass is achieved the candidate is issued with the approved certificate
One of the Mimas Trainings APLH team will then send you a form to fill out asking full name, postcode, date of birth, and dates when you are available to sit the online exam.
Once we receive the form and make sure everything is correct, we will email you the instructions for the exam you can sit from your chosen location.
Once the online invigilated exam is completed at your chosen time by you. Checks are completed to ensure you did not cheat on the exam by using the internet, interacting with any other person, or using any other external application, textbook, calculator, or materials.
If you achieve the pass mark, then we will issue you with your full qualification allowing you to apply to your local licencing authority for your Personal licence.
